Saving what you stream. Audials AG.

Boot Camp feature for Thursday, April 11, 2013

Saving what you stream.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   When you are streaming music or video, there are times when you’d like to save what you are watching or listening to.   A company called Audials AG has been in the business of enabling that.   CEO Hannes Prokoph says it is legal…

“Our approach is that our tool will not crack or circumvent any protection.  We never did this and we will never do this.  What we do instead is we take directly the signal which you can listen to or watch on your computer and write this into a new file.  While this may sound a little bit complicated, we have solved all the obstacles and right now you still get perfect recording quality out of it.”

Audials sells Tunebite 10 and Moviebox 10.   Both rely on the honesty of end users not to pass along what they’ve recorded for their own use.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.  I’m Fred Fishkin.
