Marketplace for teaching & learning online: Curious.com

Boot Camp feature for Thursday, May 16, 2013

A marketplace for teaching and learning online.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.     A new online destination called Curious.com aims to be a site for lifelong learning.   Co-founder Justin Kitch, who was behind Homestead.com, says YouTube was the inspiration for Curious…but…

“Pure video is lacking as a great form of teaching because all you’re doing is sitting there watching a straight passive video.  There’s no way for the teacher to kind of give you the architecture or structure of the lesson and to break it up into concepts, to stop and ask you questions or what we call exercises or for the student to give their own feedback.  For them to submit their work in to the teacher and get feedback from the teacher or their fellow students on how it’s going.”

The range of lessons is growing…some are free while others are for a fee of a couple dollars perhaps.   You can find the details…whether you want to learn or teach…at Curious.com.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
