Boot Camp feature for Thursday, June 20, 2013

Intel’s new generation of processors.  What’s the difference?   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   The 4th generation Core processors from Intel have arrived.  So what will they mean for consumers who use them?   The head of the front end development team for the new chips…Muntaquim Chowdhury….

“With this product, we support all day battery life.  So basically you can use your laptop for 13, 14, 15 hours.  The other thing is the idle power, which is the power that your laptop will consume when you shut it down, we took it down by 20X.  It’s unprecedented.  The third thing is, in terms of the graphics, it’s about 2 to 3X better than our previous generation.

The new processors, code named Haswell, are designed for a wide range of devices, including computers that easily convert from notebooks to tablets.  You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com.  I’m Fred Fishkin.
