13 year old creator of Backdoor chat app for iPhones

Boot Camp feature for Wednesday, August 7, 2013

What’s different about a new chat app for iPhones?   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    Backdoor is the name of a new app for iOS designed to let you exchange messages with friends….anonymously.   Well, sort of anonymously.   The app uses fun clues to help you try to find out who a message was from.   Another thing different?   Backdoor was created by Daniel Singer…who is 13 and is about to start his first year of high school.   And this isn’t his first tech creation….

“I made a Web site called YouTell around a year ago.   Basically it allowed you to solicit anonymous feedback to your friends and family and co-workers.   And we’ve had great growth, we hit two million members.   But I really like the idea of Backdoor.”

The Backdoor app lets you link to your friends on Facebook or Google +.   As for Daniel Singer,  it’s likely we’ll be hearing more from him down the road.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
