A wireless speaker system for inside and outside the home. Korus.

Boot Camp feature for Tuesday, September 10, 2013

A wireless speaker system for in the house and outside too.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   Korus is the name of a new wireless speaker system for the home that is designed to deliver rich sound, free of the glitches that can sometime interfere with wireless connections.    Korus….from Nortek….uses technology called SKAA, often used by professional musicians and the speakers connect simply to either a USB dongle plugged into a PC or Mac…or to 30 pin or Lightning iOS dongles.   Nortek VP of Group Strategy Rob Halligan sats SKAA has some big advantages…

“It is very stable, long distance.  Up to two to three times the distance of Bluetooth.  Outside in your backyard, 200 feet line of sight, directly visible we’ll play without a glitch, a pop, a hiccup or a drop.”

The Korus V600, which can operate on D batteries as well, is priced at about 450 dollars.  The smaller V400 is 100 dollars less.   There’s more info at Korussound.com.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
