Are your kids divulging too much info online?

Are your kids divulging too much information online?   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    The kids are back in school….and using social networks more than ever.    And many parents aren’t aware of what’s going on there.   A recent survey of more than 700 teens by LifeLock found that many are giving out too much personal information.   Senior Director of Corporate Communications Tami Nealy…

“So what they’re doing is they’re giving their full date of birth.  Their full home address.  Their phone number, the name of the school they attend.  All these are pieces of their identity.  Again, they’re not necessarily going out there and publishing their social security number, but all these unique identifiers make up their identity.  When combined with more information, in the wrong hands, could lead to identity theft.”

The wise thing is to open up a dialogue and make kids aware of the dangers.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
