Olympus rolls out a new flagship camera. OM-D-E-M1.

Boot Camp feature for Monday, September 23, 2013

Olympus rolls out a new flagship camera.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    The focus at Olympus these days is on its micro four-thirds line of cameras,  a sensor format it shares with Panasonic.   And the company’s latest, the OM-D-E-M1, is aimed at serious shooters with improved performance all the way around and a 14 hundred dollar price tag for just the camera body.   Olympus Visionary and National Geographic Photographer Jay Dickman…

“The ergonomics on this camera are perfect.  It’s got a PC flash so I can plug my flashes into it if I want to go that direction.  The autofocus on this…they’ve brought in phase detect and image contrast and they’re both extremely fast.  So you’ve got a camera now that’ll focus just about with the top of the cameras out there.  Image quality is stunning.  It really is.  I output images up to 30 by 40 inches and these things hold up.”

And the size makes it easy to carry around.   The OM-D-E-M1 arrives next month.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
