Ubooly toy and intriguing apps for kids

Boot Camp feature for Friday, November 1, 2013

What’s an Ubooly?  I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   Ubooly is the name of a soft, stuffed toy with a pocket that you slide an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad Mini into.   Combined with apps …Ubooly turns into a companion kids will love and not grow tired of any time soon.   Founder Carly Gloge….

“Each week, we’re constantly adding new content.   So right now, the default app without any customization, has about a novel’s worth of content.  And that’s pretty much unheard of.   Most toys, if they have any kind of voice content, it’s maybe a few lines.   And that’s what keeps kids coming back.  They don’t know what Ubooly is going to say.  But also because Ubooly sort of evolves over time.”

There are stories, jokes and games for kids.  The price?   About 30 dollars.   There’s more info at U-b-o-o-l-y.com.   You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
