A Web site to help you clean up your home. I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. Finding reliable and affordable help to clean your home has never been an easy task. And that’s where a website called HomeJoy sees opportunity. It was created by Adora Cheung and her brother…who are both engineers…. And is getting lots of backing from Google Venutres and others. So how does it work?
“HomeJoy is a tech platform. We connect people with great, reliable home service providers and we started with cleaners. So, for 20 bucks an hour, you can get a cleaner who has been background checked.”
It can be a one shot deal or as often as you’d like. Cheung says she was trying to come up with a business plan with her MIT graduate brother…when they found the idea all around them…
“My brother’s place got particularly messy. It was one of those places where I didn’t even want to walk in the bathroom.”
Their search for a cleaner that was trustworthy and that they could afford led to the creation of HomeJoy..online at HomeJoy.com. You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com. I’m Fred Fishkin.
