A basketball that teaches you how to play. I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. Take a ball… tuck sensors and Bluetooth inside it and what do you get? The 94Fifty Smart Sensor Basketball from InfoMotion Sports Technology. It connects to iPhones…and is a serious learning and coach tool. CEO Mike Crowley….
“Essentially what we’ve done is taken what would be typically a video game controller that would be the most advanced of its kind on the market. But we had to shrink it down to the size of a nickel, put it inside the ball in a way that could still give us very good data about the player, it’s collecting the motion, the forces that the player puts into the ball. So it has to be very sensitive, but it also has to be protected so it doesn’t break.”
It works with an app on the iPhone that will coach as you drill …and keep track of your progress. The 94Fifty Smart Sensor Basketball sells for about 300 dollars and can be a worthwhile investment if you’re serious about the game. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I’m Fred Fishkin.
