Nat Geo's wild man Mick Dodge on life without tech

Boot Camp feature for Tuesday, February 4, 2014

He’s not exactly anti-technology…but he’s been living in a Pacific Northwest rain forest for 25 years.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   The Legend of Mick Dodge is the name of National Geographic Channel program that gives the audience a look at the life of a white bearded, bare foot man who lives among the trees, moss and assorted creatures in Washington State’s Hoh Rain Forest.   Using a borrowed cell phone, Mick told us…his life has been about finding balance…

“And how to get back into the earth and make sense of some of our technology.  But I find the entire earth, everything’s natural, and our technology is natural too, but sometimes it leans too far one way.”

Mick Dodge doesn’t feel like he’s missed much…if anything at all.   He does plan to use some tech in the creation of fitness videos from what he calls his Earthgym.   There’s more info at TheEarthGym.com.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
