An iOS app for shopping local: Havvit

Boot Camp feature for Monday, April 7, 2014

An updated app to help you shop from your iPhone.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.     It’s a problem lots of brick and mortar stores have had to deal with…people coming in to browse and then using their mobile devices to see if they can find better prices online.    Now an iOS app called Havvit is turning the tables somewhat.   Tell it what you’re looking for and it searches through a database of more than 120 thousand retail stores with over 43 hundred shopping categories.   It was designed by Local Corp. where VP Sherry Thomas-Zon says…

“The latest version of the app that we just released incorporates what we call currently in stock check.  It helps to drive the demand that consumers have when they’re shopping to check local stores for stock inventory information.  The overall use of Havvit is as a very high touch, highly interactive shoppinig app that allows you to essentially select local stores, your favorite stores, that you shop at everyday.”

Some may find the selection limited…but it’s growing.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
