Audio Technica brings high end sound to gaming headphones

Boot Camp feature for Friday, May 23, 2014

Audio Technica gets into gaming headphones.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    Headphones used for playing videogames has turned into a pretty hot consumer electronics category.   And so, it probably only makes sense that Audio Technica has jumped in.   But the new ATH-AG1 and ADG1 aren’t the kind you’ll probably be wrapping around the ears of a twelve year old.   These are for grown up gamers who will appreciate high quality sound and can afford them.   Consumer marketing manager Crystal Griffith…

“If you think about who an audiophile is and what they’re listening for and who a gamer is and what they’re listening for, there are a lot of similarities.  Audiophiles like to listen for a long period of time.   So we have two platforms.  We have an open back platform and a closed back platform.  And both retail for the same, they’re both 299.”

And they be used via USB or a standard stereo mini plug.  And when you’re done gaming…feel free to turn up the music.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
