Using an iPad as a piano teacher

Boot Camp feature for Friday, September 12, 2014

Using an iPad as a piano teacher.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.      An app called Wolfie…named after Mozart…is designed to bring piano practice into the digital era.   It was created by Tonara, where Chief Music Officer…and classical pianist Ron Regev says….

“There is a very great problem when people learn instruments, especially young people.  They have one lesson, maybe two lessons a week and when they go home they usually don’t know how to practice.   They don’t get any feedback.  It’s very difficult for them to communicate with their teachers and we felt that all these problems can be addressed by modern technology.”

Wolfie tracks practice time…can even record…and displays the sheet music…even turns the pages for you.   It’s a great tool for students and traditional teachers.   There’s a free trial for you to take a look with subscriptions starting at about fifteen dollars a month after that.    There’s more info at Wolfiepiano.com.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
