Solar powered light bulbs making a difference globally: Nokero

Boot Camp feature for Friday, October 17, 2014

Solar powered light bulbs are making a difference around the world.  I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    In developing countries there are projects being planned to use sustainable energy to bring electricity to people who have been without it.   That can take years.   A company called Nokero has been working to bring change more immediately with a line of solar powered light bulbs and chargers.   Founder and CEO Steve Katsaros, who took part in last month’s U.N. Summit for Climate Change Conference, now has about a dozen products on the market…

“All of them are designed specifically for locations where there is no grid power and use solar technology to provide light.  The solar technology is also able to charge mobile phones.  So we have both lighting and mobile phone technology.”

The line is innovative and is also available to consumers with prices starting at as little as 8 dollars at Nokero.com.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
