Private communication online. The TunnelX solution.

Boot Camp feature for Thursday, November 13, 2014

On the Internet, is there such a thing as private communications?   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    Privacy can be hard to come by online.    If you’re among those concerned about it, a company called TunnelX has a solution.   Founder and CEO Eric Liftin…

“TunnelX is just that, it’s a Web based platform for secure, private one to one communication.  Two people use the service to converse in writing like you might use an email or instant messaging.  But we improve on both of these in some important ways.  First, our system is very secure.  We store messages in encrypted format where the two confidants that are conversing keep their own encryption keys.  So we don’t have the keys to their conversation.”

TunnelX,  for now at least, is free to use.  For those concerned about bad guys using the service…Liftin says law enforcement can go through legal channels to obtain encryption keys from users.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.  I’m Fred Fishkin.
