T-Mobile keeps shaking things up

Boot Camp feature for Tuesday, December 30, 2014

Looking ahead to the new year, T-Mobile keeps shaking things up.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    T-Mobile has been gaining subscribers at a pretty rapid pace.   Outspoken CEO John Legere’s latest move was outlined in a Yahoo Tech Webcast…

“It is arguably the biggest thing we’ve ever done since Un-Carrier 1.  And it’s called Data Stash.   And the tag line is it’s your data, what you don’t use you won’t lose.  And in effect, you can think of it as data rollover.”

Unused data can be stored for up to a year, under the new feature.  And beyond that…

“We’re going to give every single qualifying customer and new customer ten gigs free.  We’re going to put ten gigs Data Stash right in the bank to get you going and I think this is going to be something that’s really going to shake up the industry.”

That starts in January.  T-Mobile is also promising the rapid expansion of its LTE network.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
