A world of wearable tech: Withings Activite' Pop

Boot Camp feature for Wednesday, January 14, 2015

It’s a world of wearable technology.    I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   At this month’s International Consumer Electronics Show…companies big and small…continued to roll out all kinds of wearable tech.   Most have to do with tracking your fitness and health.    And for consumers, one bright spot seems to be an  awareness that not everyone has three or four hundred dollars to shell out for a device.   Withings, for instance, has announced a more affordable version of the Activite’, the Activite’ Pop.   The original, is an elegant Swiss made traditional looking watch that almost invisibly doubles at a fitness tracker….

“This device does everything that Activite’ does, which means it has a single cell watch battery, which means it does not have to be recharged and has an eight month battery life.   It’s waterproof and it does this discreet activity tracking.”

Withings’ Arielle Carpenter says the Pop will arrive at Best Buy for about 150 dollars.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
