Seagate puts elegance in an external drive. Seagate Seven

Boot Camp feature for Monday, January 26, 2015

Seagate puts elegance in an external drive.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    It is super thin…at just seven millimeters….and Seagate has put style into everything from the packaging to the USB 3.0 cable that’s included in the new Seagate Seven drive.   It isn’t designed to be the highest capacity drive on the market…but with 500 gigabytes…in a steel casing…it is both functional and eye catching.   Seagate’s Kathy Wang…

“You’ll notice that by far this is the thinnest hard drive ever made.  It is the slimmest way to carry 50 gigs in your pocket.  And what we’ve done is just put a very, very thin, high end steel enclosure all around that drive for a really nice, premium feel.  It feels great in the hand.  It looks great.  The design is really reminiscent of a really iconic look and storage of a bare drive.  And it’s our introductory product into the Seagate Extreme range and we’re really excited about it.”

There’s a lot to like.  The price…about a hundred dollars.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.    I’m Fred Fishkin.
