Next step in connected cameras: Netatmo

Boot Camp feature for Wednesday, February 11, 2015

The next step in connected cameras from Netatmo.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   The French start up Netatmo, has created some interested products over the last year or so…a Weather Station that’s connected and a bracelet that monitors your exposure to the sun.  Next up… a connected camera called Welcome.   Product Manager Janina Mattausch…

“Welcome is a smart home camera that is able to recognize your loved ones because it’s the first camera that actually features face recognition technology.  At the moment there is no other camera on the home or smart home camera market that is able to do that.  And thanks to the face recognition technology, Welcome is able to send you the name of the people it sees.  It can send it to your smart phone or your smart watch and you really know who is home when you’re not home.”

Welcome, arriving this spring, has customizable privacy settings…and the videos are stored only on a built in memory card.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.  I’m Fred Fishkin.
