A smart doll that connects to the cloud

Boot Camp feature for Tuesday, April 21, 2015

A smart doll that connects to the cloud.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.     My Friend Cayla is a high tech doll that’s been a hit in the U.K., and will soon be available in the U.S.  It was created by Genesis Toys where Senior VP Peter Magalhaes says…

“What makes Cayla so engaging is her magical user experience.  Using app enabled WiFi technology and state of the art, cloud based, voice recognition, Cayla is the world’s first real talking doll.   Just like a little girl would have an imaginary friend,  Cayla can actually understand what you say and reply to you.”

In Europe there have been issues with the doll being hacked with some dolls reportedly saying some inappropriate things …so parents are advised to have security enabled with the household Internet connection.  There’s more info at MyFriendCayla.com.   That’s Cayla with a C.   You can find us with a full archive of reports and interviews at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
