Roku makes searching easier

Boot Camp feature for Monday, April 27, 2015

An easier way to search for shows from Roku.     I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   If you thought the channel choices were overwhelming on cable and satellite…it’s even worse when it comes to what to watch on a streaming device like a Roku.   But the company is trying to make it easier.   Director of Consumer Public Relations Todd Witkemper…

“One of the things we’ve launched is voice search.  So with the new Roku 3 you can actually use voice search with the enhanced remote that’s included and search for things like a movie title,  a TV show, even channels.”  Now does this require a new box if people already have a Roku 3?  “So if you already have a Roku 3 what you can do to get all of those features in terms of the voice search is through the mobile app.   So we’ve updated the mobile app for iOS and Android.”

Roku isn’t the first to introduce voice search, but it is a welcome addition.    You can find more on that and other new features at Roku.com.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
