Intel sees big future in Internet of Things

Boot Camp feature for Wednesday, May 20, 2015

Intel sees a big future in the Internet of things.    I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.  The number one chip maker in the world makes the processors that power most PCs and Macs.   But when it comes to the future, connecting every day devices in homes and businesses to the Internet…could be a bigger business opportunity than computers.   Bridget Karlin is the managing director of the Internet of Things Strategy Group at Intel…

“The trend that’s happening now is that with IoT, everyday objects are becoming smaller, they’re becoming smarter and they need to connect.  So we see this as a huge opportunity for Intel to provide compute and connectivity in those different types of form factors.  So yes, it’s a very exciting market for us.”  Could it turn out to be bigger than personal computers?  “Yeah, I do think it has absolutely the potential.”

With everything from our light bulbs to our cars connecting…and much more to come.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
