New line of fitness wearables from Lycos can really do some good

Boot Camp feature for Thursday, June 18, 2015

A new line of fitness wearables that can really do some good.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   Lycos….a company that has evolved from being an Internet search pioneer…to one that is focused on wearable technology is out with its first devices….the Lycos Band and Lycos Ring.      They can do some pretty cool things.   But beyond the technology….Lycos is using five percent of sales to fund the Lycos Life project.   It is a global effort to provide families with portable sensors for testing the quality of their water and air.    President Brad Cohen…

“We think that if we can actually keep kids…knowing what they’re drinking in the water and knowing what’s in their air… they can grow up with a happier and healthier life.  And what that really leads to is a happier, healthier, more peaceful, more productive world as they grow up.”

The Lycos Band is priced at 125 dollars, the Ring…about 60 dollars.   There’s more info on the specs at Lycos.com.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
