The Skylanders game franchise is getting supercharged. I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. Activision’s Skylanders video games, broke new ground when they were introduced four years ago, combining physical toys with an on screen game. Since then, the franchise has brought in more than 3 billion dollars. And coming this year…is the latest iteration…Skylanders SuperChargers. Senior VP Joshua Taub…
“It is a game that goes into a new category, which is about vehicles. And so for the first time we are bringing vehicles to life in Skylands, which includes all of the vehicle fantasy kids have. So that’s on land play, in air with jet fighters and helicopters and under sea with dive bombers and submarines.”
The franchise has spawned competition…as you would expect…but is staying fresh. And the new game will be compatible with existing Skylanders characters. It arrives in September. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I’m Fred Fishkin.
