Get your kids coding this summer

Boot Camp feature for Wednesday, June 24, 2015

Get your kids coding this summer.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    So how will the kids be spending their summer.   If video games will be taking up too much time…maybe you can entice them into learning how to do some programming themselves.   No Starch Press is out with a book called Teach Your Kids to Code…written by Bryson Payne.   And while he teaches at the college level, he says parents without any coding background, can help their kids get into it…

“I wrote it to be a guide for parents or teachers who have got no programming experience all the way to folks who have done some coding before.  I keep the examples really short.  In fact most of the programs from the first three or four chapters are just about five to ten lines long.  But it gives a student, it gives a parent, a chance to see something happen on the screen.”

And that’s where the fun begins.    Teach Your Kids to Code is available in paperback and in a Kindle edition too.   You  can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
