A gadget to help you become a baseball all-star? SwingTracker.

Boot Camp feature for Friday, July 3, 2015

A gadget to help you become a baseball all star.   Or at least improve your swing.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   A company called Diamond Kinetics is using sensor technology and smartphones to help baseball players get better with the bat.   Senior product manager Katrina Brown….

“You place the SwingTracker on the knob of the baseball bat and from that it captures 11 thousand data points per minute which are then translated into 15 different swing metrics, from power to speed, quickness and control of the swing.  And then, from that, you can look at different elements within those and different things that a coach might use with their players.”

It gives new meaning to the phrase knowledge equals power.   The SwingTracker can help you with baseball or softball.    You can find it for about a hundred fifty dollars, so it’s designed for players who are serious about the game.   You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com.  I’m Fred Fishkin.
