The week of Windows 10 arrives

Boot Camp feature for Monday, July 27, 2015

This is the week of Windows 10.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.      The official arrival date is July 29th….and Microsoft has been lining up reservations for Windows 10 since early last month.    And it involves upgrading billions of devices.    And since the upgrades are free….a decision that marks a real departure for Microsoft….many or most Windows users will be getting on board.    Windows 10 brings back the Start menu.   It also features a personal digital assistant called Cortana….which until now has been available on Windows Phones…competing with similar technologies from Apple and Google.   Microsoft is bringing Cortana to iOS and Android devices too in order to provide users with a seamless experience.   What else is cool?    Something called Windows Hello.   Your devices can greet you by name with a smile…and will use biometrics to log you in without a password.   There’s more at Windows.com.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
