Bluetooth headset design has put LG Tone series on top

Boot Camp feature for Monday, August 3, 2015

When it comes to Bluetooth headsets, design is the key to usability.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.     Bluetooth headsets for listening to music and making calls make a lot of sense.     But for many, the issue becomes what do you do with them when you aren’t on the phone or listening to music.    That is why over the last five years,  LG has become the top selling Bluetooth headset brand in the U.S….with its Tone series.    More than ten million have now been sold…and the latest figures show LG with a market share of more than forty percent.   The Tone headsets have a lightweight base that wraps around the back of the neck with earbuds that you simply pull out and wear as needed.    There are different levels of pricing…with some models costing as little as forty dollars.    Even with those, the sound quality is good….and goes up from there.    For the higher end, LG has partnered with some well known names in sound…JBL and Harman/Kardon.   There’s more info at LG.com.    You can find us at BootCamp.com.    I’m Fred Fishkin.
