Nexia Home Intelligence focuses on reliability

Boot Camp feature for Monday, September 14, 2015

When it comes to smart homes, Nexia has focused on reliability.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   Nexia Home Intelligence, part of Ingersoll Rand, has been making do it yourself home automation equipment for about seven years using a wireless standard called Z-Wave.    While it doesn’t have the most diverse line up, the list of compatible devices is growing.  One of the more exciting new additions is the Rachio Iro sprinkler controller.   It lets you completely automate lawn and garden sprinklers using the built in intelligence…or manually through your phone or tablet.   There are light controls and thermostats too…as well as cameras and motion sensors.  About what sets Nexia Home apart, Marketing Manager Lindsay Kirchhausen says…

“We have a seven day a week customer service in the U.S..   If you need to talk to someone and have them walk you through it, that’s available right through Nexia.”

Nexia does require a subscription…starting at about ten dollars a month.   There more info at NexiaHome.com.     You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
