Taking a recording studio anywhere

Boot Camp feature for Wednesday, September 16, 2015

Taking a recording studio anywhere.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    Whether you are looking to record music or voice,  it doesn’t take a big cumbersome set up these days to get professional sounding results.    For about two hundred dollars, you can find a six channel version of Yamaha’s AG portable mixer.   It is powered through a USB port…or an external power supply if you are recording onto an iPad.    If you’re thinking of getting into podcasting, all you’ll need to add is a good quality microphone.   The compact size of the Yamaha AG, makes it simple to take along anywhere and the loopback function makes mixing mics, instruments and sounds from your computer easy.    A three channel version sells for about fifty dollars less.    They can do a lot for the money and come bundled Cubase AI music production software.    If you’re an Android user and are looking to user your phone or tablet with a guitar…IK Multimedia’s new iRig UA Guitar Interface and Processor for Android lets you take your music and recording capability anywhere.     It sells for about a hundred dollars.    You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
