High tech building blocks for kids of all ages: Microduino

Boot Camp feature for Thursday, November 5, 2015

High tech building blocks for kids of all ages.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.     There’s a lot of talk these days about encouraging science, technology, engineering and math education for kids and there are some new toys on the market to help accomplish that.   One of the most interesting is called the mCookie from Microduino.   The kits have small, Lego compatible, magnetic, stackable modules.    Co-founder and CEO Bin Feng says they are like super smart Legos…

“Each module has its own function like WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and amplifiers.  So simply stack the modules you need.  You can create your own products such as drones, robots, GPS trackers, 3D printers.”

The basic kit starts at about a hundred dollars with an advanced model selling for about twice that.  There’s development software for PCs and Macs too along with tutorials.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
