Canon offering free accidental damage protection on some cameras & lenses

Boot Camp feature for Thursday, November 12, 2015

Don’t be afraid to use that good camera.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.      Just about everyone it seems is doing most of their picture taking with phones these days….even if they have a really good camera they’ve invested in.     Canon is trying to get some new camera buyers to break that habit with what it calls the CarePAK Plus promotion.   VP Ross Held…

“With certain products, mostly our high end products and high end lenses, if you accidentally drop it or spill something on it, it usually voids the warranty.  This is an insurance program where if that happens, you’re covered for thirteen months and you can get a replacement one time absolutely free.”

And that added coverage….is free too for specific model cameras purchased before January 9th.   Those models include the popular EOS 6D, 7D Mark II and 5D Mark III.   Canon says it will be taking a look at the promotion to determine if it might be expanded in the future.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
