A smarter surveillance camera from Samsung

Boot Camp feature for Tuesday, January 19, 2016

A smarter surveillance camera from Samsung.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   There’s plenty of competition when it comes to cameras designed to let you monitor what’s going on in your home or business.   One of the latest is the SmartCam HD Plus from Samsung.   It resembles a Nest Cam in appearance …but has some useful added features like Advanced Motion Detection and Motion Zone Select.     Richard Simone is VP of Sales and Marketing at Samsung Tecwin America…

“It’s all about notifications within a certain locale.  If you were to track someone that approaches a doorway or a window, you could simply draw a box around that particular area and as soon as there’s movement within that box you’ll receive an alert on the phone.”

The night vision range of up to 32 feet is pretty impressive too.  Surprisingly, the camera as of now, does not work with Samsung’s SmartThings platform.   The price…about 189 dollars.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
