Making that smart home more reliable: Nexia

Boot Camp feature for Wednesday, February 3, 2016

Making all of those smart home gadgets more reliable.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.     There are lots of companies, big and small making gadgets to make our homes more secure, convenient and fun to live in.    But when that equipment doesn’t work the way it should, or when installation is a hassle, things can go south in a hurry.    Ingersoll Rand’s Nexia branded solution has focused on reliability using the secure Z-Wave standard, WiFi and apps for iOS, Android and Windows 10.   Nexia General Manager George Land says coming soon is compatibility with Amazon’s Echo…also known as Alexa….

“ So you can just speak to the device and then anything that you have enrolled in your Nexia account can be controlled via those voice commands.”

There are other new compatible devices arriving as well including a One Touch controller that can be mounted on a wall.    There’s more info at NexiaHome.com.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
