Fool proof, connected cooking: Anova

Boot Camp feature for Tuesday, February 16, 2016

A fool proof and connected way to cook.    I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.     What is called sous vide cooking….isn’t all that new.   But devices that let you use the power of smartphones,  tablets and apps to create perfectly cooked dishes add a whole new dimension.   Anova Culinary n created the first cooking device, the Precision Cooker, to be featured in Apple stores.   It heats to precise temperatures and circulates water  in almost any pot…and the food is immersed in plastic bags.   Co-Founder Steve Svajian…

“We’ve got two models.  One, it connects via Bluetooth and essentially what you do is you find something that you’d like to cook, plug it in through the app and it automatically starts with the device setting to the correct time and temperature.   The WiFi device enables you to cook remotely.”

It really is hard to go wrong.   The only thing you may want to do is some browning, depending on the dish.   The Anova Precision Cookers sell for under two hundred dollars.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin
