Are you ready for another robotic dog? WowWee's CHiP

Boot Camp feature for Friday, March 4, 2016

Are you ready for another robotic dog?   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   It was way back in 1999 when Sony came out with a robotic dog named Aibo.   The last version was made in 2005.    They were expensive and designed for the techiest of families.   Now, WowWee, a toy company known for a variety of fun robotic gadgets, is getting ready to deliver a robotic dog of its own.  It’s called CHiP.    Chief Technology Officer Davin Sufer…

“He basically comes with a smart band and a smart bed and a smart ball and he can interact with all of his accessories.   Basically he’s a really adorable robot puppy.  He can follow you around, he can greet you when you come home, he can wake you up in the morning, play games with you and do all kinds of fun stuff like that.”

CHiP, which will sell for about two hundred dollars this fall, runs on a rechargeable battery and will return to the charging station on its own at the end of the day or when you turn off the lights.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
