Boot Camp feature for Wednesday, April 27, 2016

Using tech to help manage diabetes.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   A company called LabStyle Innovations has won FDA clearance for a gadget it calls Dario…designed to work with smartphones to help measure and monitor blood glucose levels.   Executive VP Todd Durniak…

“We have an all in one device, which allows the user to manage their testing supplies.  And then actually the meter portion, which connects in through the headphone jack of a smartphone, which married through an application in on the phone, allows the user to manager their blood glucose and carb intake and calorie burn, the parameters they need to help keep them healthy.”

Initially…the app is available for iOS.  An Android version is in the works.  Dario sells for about twenty dollars…but you will also need the disposable test strips that can be stored in the device.   There’s more at USA.myario.com.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.    I’m Fred Fishkin.
