Hottest Games of Past Year

Boot Camp feature for Thursday, December 31, 1998

Some of the hottest games of the past year. I'm Fred Fishkin with Bootcamp, a report on computers and technology. It's a mystery combined with a shooting type game where the enemy has astonishing artificial intelligence. Half-Life was created by Valve Software. Co-founder Gabe Newell... "The story is a pretty scary story. It's basically a set of events go awry and you think that you're actually the person who caused this horrible accident that destroys the research facility that you're at. As you start to escape from the facility, you find out that people are trying to hunt you and your fellow scientists down."

Half-Life is made for PCs. For Nintendo 64 fans the big game is Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Nintendo's Shannon O'Neal... says it's the fifth title in the Zelda saga...

"You take the role of a character named Link, and ultimately you've got to try to save Princess Zelda."

While travelling back and forth through time. The seventy dollar game is expected to sell some two and a half million copies. In a game called Apocalypse for the Sony PlayStation, Activision used big time movie star Bruce Willis. Activision's David Stohl... says the actor was motion captured into a 3D character...

"It's amazing how much of Bruce comes across just in the way he moves and then of course what he looks like. And then on top of that he talks doing his funny Bruce-isms throughout the game."

Yet another Willis doomsday epic.
