Google prepares to take on Amazon's Echo

Boot Camp feature for Thursday, June 2, 2016

Google prepares to take on Amazon’s Echo.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.      Amazon’s Echo…and other Alexa enabled products have been some of the most fun, innovative consumer electronics available.     Consumers have taken note and so have competitors.  Google Home is scheduled to arrive later this year…and Google Technologist Latoya Drake says…

“So what it will do is pull across the various devices that you might have in your home and let you speak to it so that you can say …if you’ve got a Nest device for instance…change the temperature…things of that nature.  You can also speak to it, so you can say what’s on the calendar today and it will give you a prompt of what’s on your calendar.  Let’s say the kids are doing some homework and they want to know about stars in a galaxy, If you have a smart TV it will connect and show you pictures of what you’re asking about.”

There’s also a smarter Google Assistant coming to mobile devices.   Stay tuned.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
