Using tech to monitor water use

Boot Camp feature for Thursday, June 23, 2016

Using tech to monitor your water use.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   Belkin, a company known for a wide variety of consumer products, including the WeMo line of home automation gadgets and Linksys networking gear….is branching out.   It has partnered to create a company called Phyn….focused, says CEO Chet Pipkin, on intelligent water use…

“The promise of Phyn is from one point of sensoring on my plumbing, I will be able to see over time how much water is being used by my irrigation system, by my sink, by my shower.   I will be able to see whether or not there’s a leak taking place in the home, even when I’m not home.”

Water conservation is important everywhere …but is crucial in many western states.   Pipkin says the first products from Phyn are now being tested and will be coming to market in the near future.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
