A connected gadget to cut cooling costs: Mistbox

Boot Camp feature for Monday, July 11, 2016

A connected gadget to cut cooling costs.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   Air conditioning bills can skyrocket during the hot summer months, but a company called Mistbox says its connected misting system can reduce cooling costs by a lot.  CEO Josh Teekell…

“So Mistbox is a product that hangs on the side of an air conditioning unit and when the temperature, humidity conditions are right, it mists around the unit to pre-cool the intake air which boosts the capacity of the system.   So all that translates to savings of up to 30 percent or more on the costs of cooling your home.”

Part of the 400 dollar price tag can be recovered via a tax credit…and it won’t take look to make the rest back during the summer.   Installation takes just a few minutes…it is solar powered,  does need a hose hook up…and can use WiFi and an app to let you track the effectiveness.   There’s more at Mistbox.com.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
