Making computers cool again. HP's focus on design.

Boot Camp feature for Monday, September 26, 2016

Making computers cool again.    I’m Fred Fishkin with BootCamp, your Techstination for gadgets and gear.   When you think of shaking up the design of computers, if you’re like me, the first company that comes to mind is Apple.   But Hewlett Packard is wowing lots of folks too.   The super slim HP Spectre 13 is beautifully designed….doesn’t skimp on power and has a battery that can keep you going for up to nine hours.   It’s hard not to be impressed.   HP VP for Product Experience and Portfolio Strategy Mike Nash….

“The computer itself has a combination of aluminum on the top, but carbon fiber on the bottom.  We chose different materials to get the best out of the different materials.  For example, on the top, where you’re opening, you want the device to have a certain level of rigidity.  A thin device shouldn’t mean a flimsy device.  And then on the very back of the device around the hinge, that hinge is in a polished gold finish, it looks really, really nice.”

Also breaking the mold when it comes to design is HP’s Pavilion Wave desktop machine.  You can find us at   I’m Fred Fishkin.
