Sonos maps out connection to Amazon Alexa and more

Boot Camp feature for Tuesday, September 27, 2016

Sonos…the pioneer in whole home audio…partners with Amazon Alexa.   I’m Fred Fishkin with BootCamp, your Techstination for gadgets and gear.    With great quality sound and easy do it yourself set up Sonos has won many fans over the years.   It has a variety of solutions starting at about two hundred dollars.   And the company has now made a deal to bring Amazon’s Alexa voice control to the system.  While on the surface it may appear that the two are in competition, Sonos Software VP Antoine Leblond says…

“By bringing the best of Sonos with the best of Alexa, we can really create a magical experience for voice controlled music in the home.  So we’re complimentary is the way to think about this…not competitive.”

Sonos has also partnered with Lutron…which has created a wireless wall switch to control music.  Lutron’s Neil Orchowski…

“It provides access at your fingertips, hard button control where you want to play, pause, raise or lower the volume.”
