Piper Computer Kit designed to engage and inspire kids

Techstination feature for Friday, February 17, 2017

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.     Kids love to be in front of screens.   Maybe it’s time to have them to build a machine they can play with.   That’s what a startup called Piper is offering.   Kits to help kids…typically 8 and up…build computers complete with a small screen.   Founder Mark Pavylukovskyy says building the little computer is just the start…

“And once they have assembled the computer, on the screen, they see a modified version of Minecraft.  Minecraft, as you might know, is one of the most popular games in the world today.  Basically digital Legos, Legos in a virtual world.  And kids use Minecraft, they can continue learning about electronics, building physical electronics and learn the basics of coding.”

The cleverly created Piper Computer Kit sells for about three hundred dollars.   You can find more information at buildpiper.com.
