Nixplay connected photo frames gaining new capabilities

Techstination feature for Thursday, January 18, 2018

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.   Creedon Technology has been doing some pretty innovative things with digital picture frames.    The company, which is also a major player in commercial digital signage,  has done an impressive job with the Nixplay Iris.   Instead of displaying photos from memory cards, it connects to the cloud via WiFi and lets you show photos that you’ve uploaded from your phone or PC.   CEO Mark Palfreeman says the company also plans to connect the frames with Amazon Alexa….

“You’ll be able to talk to an Amazon Echo, Alexa enabled device and say, you know, can I play a certain playlist, show me photos from a certain person, etcetera.”

The Nixplay Iris is an easy way for photos to be shared with friends and family memories.    A built in activity sensor turns the display on or off when it detects a person is in the vicinity.
