Pro Tools...Bargain Price. Adobe Photoshop Elements

Boot Camp feature for Tuesday, April 24, 2001

Love digital photography? Try the tools the pros use from Adobe. I'm Fred Fishkin with Bloomberg Bootcamp. For years, the number one professional software package for editing digital pictures has been Adobe Photoshop. Now Adobe has taken the power of that package... .made it easy enough for just about everyone... and affordable. Kevin Connor is the product manager for Adobe Photoshop Elements...

"What we've done is come up with a special version of Photoshop that strips out some of the high end production features but also adds a variety of features to make it a bit easier to use and also make it more fun to use with digital cameras and so forth. And the package sells for under a hundred dollars."

Under seventy if you're upgrading from a competing software package. There are lots of easy to use photo editing packages on the market that are cheaper... .including Adobe Photo Deluxe... .

"Typically those pure consumer products ... they're designed with quite a bit of assistance and hand holding and a focus on guided activities where it takes you step by step through everything. Keeps you from making mistakes and so forth... but also doesn't give you as much room to explore off on your own."

Instead of those guided activities or projects... Photoshop Elements includes what it calls recipes...

"And recipes is sort of a step in between the guided activities approach of consumer products and the push of Photoshop of just leaving you to your own devices."

There's a free trial version available on the Web at Adobe.com. Bootcamp, I'm Fred Fishkin, Bloomberg Radio.
