Pocket PC 2002 Arrives

The new version of the Pocket PC arrives. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. Microsoft calls it Pocket PC 2002. Whiles Pocket PC devices still trail those using the Palm operating system in popularity by a wide margin... .they have been making inroads in the corporate community. The ability to easily work with other Microsoft applications is a big advantage and Pocket PC 2002 has the look of the new Windows XP. Compaq created one of the most successful Pocket PC hand-helds with the iPAQ line... largely because of its unique expansion capabilities... .and it will be out with several new models, including one that incorporates Bluetooth wireless technology. Compaq's Cindy Box...

"I believe this version provides additional functionality that will really appeal to enterprise users. They've specifically added some great capabilities in terms of connections. Adding VPN support and terminal client services support. And they've also added great functionality such as instant messaging."

Look for new models from all of the Pocket PC makers. And you can add the name Toshiba to that list. VP Steven Andler says the company's E550 will offer compact flash and SD expansion slots in a small package...

"It is smaller for the amount of expansion capability and the battery life and features that it has. It's pretty much a breakthrough in this category of product."
