"The questions Bootcamp asks are very similar to questions found on the actual DAT and the format and interface of their Full Length Tests are almost identical to the DAT itself."

Two critical advantages that Bootcamp has over other study programs is that: 1. The questions they ask are very similar to questions found on the actual DAT and 2. The format and interface of their Full Length Tests are almost identical to the DAT itself.

"The number one resource from Bootcamp that helped me succeed was the Dr. Ari's 90-day schedule. The daily assignments really helped me stay on track, especially in the first few weeks."

A few things I did in the week leading up to my exam to relieve some anxiety was taking my full length exams at 8:30AM in the library so that I could simulate how test day might actually feel. I also started going to sleep earlier so that my sleep schedule would be adjusted by the time of test day.

"I would definitely focus on acid/base chemistry as a more highly tested topic, and also mentally tell yourself to slow down a little on OC to avoid silly mistakes."

I made the most of it by strategically simulating the entire testing experience every day as accurately as possible (waking up at the same actual testing time, eating the same breakfast, drinking the same energy drink, going to a random public library cubicle, leaving my phone in the car, running the same 30-minute break routine, etc.). Even though there are some things you can’t control when taking a test in an unfamiliar environment, you can control yourself, so practice exactly the way you plan to perform.

"I highly recommend Anki for biology, do as many practice tests as possible, and review those tests multiple times to make sure you know all the obscure facts that you were missing."

One thing I had to remind myself was that not every day will be perfect. One day you can get through 3 bio chapters and score super high on a practice test, and the next you can barely focus and get the easiest questions wrong. This is not a reflection of you. When you are in dental school you will have hard days, so it's infinitely better to set up good habits now so you can thrive in the future.

"My biggest tip for the DAT is to not ignore the sections you already feel comfortable with!"

The reading comprehension section goes by so quickly, so practicing and maintaining speed is very important. Have a plan in case you get one really long passage on test day. Remain consistent with your RC studying, especially if you’re not used to reading so quickly or for extended periods.

"Focus on consistent daily study, spaced repetition, and building a toolbox of strategies rather than trying to memorize everything at once."

One strategy that helped me tremendously was studying a little bit of every DAT subject every day. Instead of focusing on a single subject for long periods of time, I allowed information to gradually “marinate.” Spaced repetition made concepts stick much more naturally over time.

MCAT Bootcamp

MCAT Bootcamp teaches you the reasoning patterns the AAMC actually tests.

  • 150 AAMC-style passages that teach AAMC logic.
  • Video explanations that teach you the exact reasoning step by step.
  • Explanations that teach why an answer is correct or incorrect.

"MCAT Bootcamp helped me improve from a 499 practice exam to a 515 on test day. I found the explanations really clear, and they helped me understand topics in a way that actually stuck."

When I first started studying for the MCAT, my first practice exam score was a 499. On test day, I scored a 515, a 16 point increase. MCAT Bootcamp was a big part of my studying, especially for the science sections. I found the explanations really clear, and they helped me understand topics in a way that actually stuck. On test day, I ended up scoring in the 92+ percentile across all of the science sections thanks to MCAT Bootcamp.

For CARS, I honestly wish I had started using Bootcamp earlier. Early in my studying, my CARS score was hovering around 123–124, and I was mostly using other resources because that was what I had been recommended. I quickly realized that the tools I was using were not helping me improve my score. Once I started using Bootcamp’s CARS tools more seriously, I saw some of my practice test scores go up to 127–128, and I ultimately scored a 126 on test day. What helped me most was the way Bootcamp explained wrong answers. It showed me how small changes in my thought process could completely change how I approached a question.

My favorite Bootcamp feature was definitely the answer explanations. They were clear, direct, and actually useful when reviewing mistakes. Instead of just telling me the right answer, they helped me to understand why I got something wrong and how to avoid making the same mistake again. This emphasized the importance of reasoning on the MCAT, rather than simply forcing memorization like many other tools.

Out of the handful of different Qbanks I tried, MCAT Bootcamp was one of the closest to the AAMC style in terms of the passages and the way questions were asked. I would still tell students to use the official AAMC material, but I think Bootcamp is a great resource to work through first because the explanations help you actually learn from each question before moving on to AAMC practice. The AAMC questions do not do as good of a job of correcting wrong answer patterns.

Overall, MCAT Bootcamp helped me improve from a 499 practice exam to a 515 on test day. I would definitely recommend it to other students, especially anyone who wants clear explanations and realistic practice that helps them review more effectively. I would recommend that students do as many practice questions as possible, because even getting questions wrong was an invaluable learning experience thanks to Bootcamp’s explanations.

"Bootcamp makes clear key details and spends no time on extraneous information."

I'm a big fan of Bootcamp. Complex ideas are made simple, and important details are made memorable. In-house lectures oftentimes present information without context, and it can be hard to know which details are the most consequential for testing or clinical purposes. Bootcamp makes clear key details and spends no time on extraneous information. I also appreciate the practice questions; they not only reinforce concepts but also help me gauge my understanding of the material.

"Bootcamp has been incredibly beneficial, especially for a visual learner like me. The detailed diagrams and interactive elements are key in making complex information more understandable."

Diving into Med School Bootcamp has been incredibly beneficial, especially for a visual learner like me. The detailed diagrams and interactive elements are key in making complex information more understandable. The quiz bank and the corresponding Anki deck are effective for testing my knowledge and reinforcing learning through spaced repetition. And the anatomy section is particularly impressive, with its combination of lessons, quizzes, and real cadaver images greatly enhancing my grasp of the human body. It's direct, useful, and precisely what I needed for med school success.

"I found Bootcamp’s question bank to be the most similar to the actual exam in terms of style and difficulty."

I took my exam on 5/20 and got my results on 6/14 and I had a couple friends who wanted to know what I did in order to pass. First, I'd like to say that overall my exam was very similar to the free 120s, Bootcamp qbank, and UWorld/Amboss.

I used Bootcamp for my exam and it was more than perfect for when I needed to review the content. It's organized by subjects and has many quizzes testing your understanding of the material after each video. They've been around for a while and they've certainly improved overtime and I have no doubt they’ve surpassed BnB in quality and will surpass BnB in popularity in the near future. While it may not have been a primary recommendation five years ago, it most certainly is now.

I found Bootcamp’s question bank to be the most similar to the actual exam in terms of style and difficulty. I think their question bank is decently sized as well. In all honesty, UWorld and Amboss was decently similar as well in terms of style but more difficult than the actual exam.

"The main source I used for content review was Bootcamp, which I LOVED. I had used Boards and Beyond during the school year, and while it wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t for me."

After spending 6 weeks in dedicated and 2 weeks after waiting for my score, I found out I PASSED Step 1! The biggest thing I learned from this whole experience is that you truly know SO MUCH more than you think. Go in confident and just remind yourself that YOU are capable! Here are my stats:

  • US DO Student - Took exam 6/13
  • UWorld - 55% complete, 56% correct
  • UWorld SA1 - 56% (4 weeks out)
  • NBME 29 - 69% with 97% chance of passing (3 weeks out)
  • NBME 30 - 67% with 96% chance of passing (2 weeks out)
  • NBME 31 - 78% with 99% chance of passing (1 week out)
  • Free 120 - 80% (3 days out)

The main source I used for content review was Bootcamp, which I LOVED. I had used Boards and Beyond during the school year, and while it wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t for me. I’m much more of a visual learner and the images Bootcamp used in conjunction with seeing the instructor in the corner instead of just hearing a voice helped me a TON! It’s also great to hear from different instructors for different subject areas. Not to mention it was also super helpful to have the questions in between lessons to solidify info I had just reviewed. If you’re looking for a refresh from BnB I’d definitely recommend Bootcamp!

I really struggled with immunology and my medical school didn’t have a strong foundation when it came to that so I knew I had to focus a lot of my content review there. Probably one of the best modules within Bootcamp in my opinion - it was so easy to follow and to truly understand. I left the immuno unit feeling like I could nail every immuno question thrown at me, and it definitely showed with my UWorld blocks, NBMEs, and on the real deal. Their cardio and neuro units were also top notch and such great quality.

On top of Bootcamp, I also used Pathoma as my main source of path review - I watched the videos while following along in the book and making annotations. I reviewed Ch 1-3 the weekend before my exam and the night before and I’m glad I did! Dirty medicine was my main source for biochem review. He is the BEST and makes it so easy to follow and understand what you need to know for boards - don’t get caught up in the nuances of the pathways. Focus on the big picture and disease centered biochem. For me, First Aid was used solely as a supplement, for any clarification that I needed on certain topics.

Step 1 is a beast of an exam, there’s no doubt about it. Trust in yourself, focus on strengthening your weaknesses, and you will definitely be in good shape! Rooting for you all!

Med School Bootcamp was the perfect resource for me to prep for Step 1. As someone who can get bored/distracted easily, the short videos and intermittent knowledge checks were the perfect way to keep me engaged. "The modules were clear, concise and set up in a manner that allowed to follow the upper body and lower body as we learned them in lecture."

Gross Anatomy Bootcamp was a great way to actively and passively learn for anatomy practicals and quizzes. The modules were clear, concise and set up in a manner that allowed to follow the upper body and lower body as we learned them in lecture. The quiz banks and practice exams further reinforced the material we could see on practicals and quizzes with clear landmarks and explanations with referrals back to the Bootcamp slides.

My second lab practical score was twenty points higher than the first after using Anatomy Bootcamp!

After my first anatomy lab practical, I was overwhelmed by both the amount of material and the different way it was presented in the lab compared to a traditional lecture. Anatomy Bootcamp organizes the material in a more manageable way, and the cadaver identification photos helped me get more comfortable identifying structures. My second lab practical score was twenty points higher than the first after using Anatomy Bootcamp!

"If you feel like you don't need the lessons, I still think Bootcamp stands out in terms of its Question Banks, which use real cadaveric images that are annotated."

Anatomy was a really difficult experience for me because my learning style in normal pre-clinical coursework wasn't helping me learn what I needed to know. My school's teaching style worked for some, but not me, and I couldn't slam the spacebar to learn anatomy via loads of Anki the way a lot of my classmates were doing. Following along with the videos and annotating the slides, taught it a really concise way, was what I really needed. If you feel like you don't need the lessons, I still think Bootcamp stands out in terms of its Question Banks, which use real cadaveric images that are annotated. Personally, I learn really well with questions, and trying to complete as much of the Question Banks as possible was what made me really confident with the practical component of my Anatomy exams -- I especially don't know what I would have done with Bootcamp's Neuroanatomy module (and I currently recommend the Qbanks to everyone that tells me they struggle too).

"I really enjoy the mnemonics and diagrams that are used."

Bootcamp has definitely helped to reinforce the topics I've been learning in lectures. I use it to supplement my learning and review what I do not understand. I really enjoy the mnemonics and diagrams that are used.

"My biggest advice is to take your time and avoid rushing into the exam. Everyone learns at a different pace, and you should keep studying until you feel comfortable with the material."

The key thing to remember about PAT is to train yourself to look for what is wrong in the answer choices rather than trying to confirm the entire correct option. Eliminating mistakes is often much faster than proving something is completely correct.

"DAT Bootcamp provided me with all of the tools to be successful on this exam and I was able to take the DAT once and be done."

“I think it is critical to do all of the practice tests towards the end of your studying and make sure to go over them as well. These last few weeks was where I saw the most amount of progress.

"Seeing as the practice tests were most representative of the real DAT, I tried to redo as many of the science sections as I could to make sure I didn’t make the same mistakes."

Studying for the DAT is like a marathon and can very easily feel daunting and overwhelming. Utilize Bootcamp's organized calendar and take it day by day, knowing that they have all the resources you need to be prepared for test day.

"I focused on understanding concepts, because I felt like if I could understand a concept well, it wouldn’t be hard memorizing it later."

In the first month of studying, I didn’t really focus too much on memorizing concepts. Rather, I focused on understanding concepts, because I felt like if I could understand a concept well, it wouldn’t be hard memorizing it later.

"This rigorous preparation was very beneficial in making me feel comfortable during the exam and helping me gain confidence in my time management as well as the information learned."

Ultimately, Bootcamp tests and practice questions were somewhat more difficult than the actual exam. This rigorous preparation was very beneficial in making me feel comfortable during the exam and helping me gain confidence in my time management as well as the information learned. Best of luck to those beginning to study.
